I hate chain drives because of the mess they make. I used to use ATF but couldn't deal with the drip/spray all over the place. I have since switched to this chain wax and it is way cleaner. I couldn't tell you if they are better or worse for the chain itself, but my philosophy is that a waxed chain is better than a dry chain. So, I am happy with the product.

have 5 motorcycles and used many different chain lubes until this one. best to clean the chain and spray on while it's still warm(end of the ride and already for the next time). had excellent longevity using this product,as well as a couple of maxima's 2 and 4 stroke oils. on road: maxima chain wax,off road: zep45. also use it when temporarily storing away tools and other metal items,on the cars(hinges, battery posts, etc.),and many other things that need lube or you don't want getting rusty too soon. all maxima products are among the best and probably will not find them less expensive than here. buy 2 or 3 cans at a time to offset the shipping............

I bought this to lube the chain on my motorcycle. It goes on with a solvent that evaporates quickly. Leaves the chain dry to the touch with a waxy feel. Seems to work good as I don't get any fling off.

I've been using this product for slightly more than a year on my 1991 Sportster.Instructions are to initially clean the chain with a degreaser so the wax can adhere to dry metal. I did this with the chain on the motorcycle, rolling the wheel to expose the entire chain. I then took the motorcycle for a short ride to dry the chain and warm it up slightly. Next, while the chain was still warm, I sprayed the chain wax liberally on the inner surfaces of the rollers and side plates, once again rolling the wheel so that the entire chain was lubed. I then let the wax dry for a half-hour or so.When I took the motorcycle out for a ride, I noticed that the chain was running quietly, not necessarily more quietly than it would with grease or oil, but at least as much so. When I parked, the rear wheel was clean, with no oil spots on the rim (or my clothing, or the rest of the motorcycle), apparantly the wax sticks to the chain much better than any grease or oil I've ever used. The wax dries to a transparent film, so the chain looks dry, even though it is coated with the wax. Additionally, the chain does not seem to attract or hold abrasive dirt. I reapply wax every few weeks or so, when I think about it, just spraying a new coat onto the existing wax, usually when I return home from work after the chain has been run on the freeway for a few miles. I've found that chain adjustments are not required for many hundreds of miles.I've tried many different chain lubes since I began riding in 1968. I highly recommend this product. It meets or exceeds all my expectations.
