So here's the thing, any fan with blades like this is going to make noise. I found my fan blade was balanced but the blades were not in alignment. After I adjusted the blades, the noise was reduced. Not quiet. I also found the noise was different depending on where in the duct I installed. There are harmonics and depending on placement of the unit, the harmonics make the noise more pronounced. So in conclusion, this style of fan from any manufacturer will be noisy. If you want to pay the money for a fan that has been engineered to be quiet, then you will spend more than the cost of this fan. If you install this fan as it was intended, the noise level will be acceptable. That means you may have to try different locations in the duct before finding the perfect spot.

This booster fan replaced an old one that was getting noisy. We were hoping for stronger air flow in a room with restricted vents, but the air flow seems to be the same. Don't have a way to measure air flow though.

I used this in line fan to keep the humidity at 30 in the basement crawl space. Seems to be of better quality than the old one which finally gave up. Fit the 6 duct perfectly. There are only hot and neutral wires, not also a ground as the instructions indicate. Definitely recommend unless you need to move more than 150-180 cfm.
