I have an old Marshall VS100 (1998) which I just bought and noticed the sound was a bit Lo-Fi After installing the tube it sounds brand new, My pinch harmonics actually sound like pinch harmonics. Would recommend. (Originally I was looking for the gold plated version, so if I find one I'll try it)

I bought 4 of these to replace the Groove tube pre amp tubes that were currently in my Marshall TSL. These tubes gave me a more full and rounded tone but when playing Stevie Ray Vaughn type music it was definitely lacking in gain. I performed the A,B test with the old tubes several times and liked the over all sound but just didn't have the gain I needed to pull off lots of the music I love. I put the old tube back in V1 and left the other 3 with the new Electro Harmonix and I am very happy with the sound and versatility. Full disclosure, that when I ordered these, I did not check 34;high gain34; box on the order form so maybe some are hotter. If your looking for more head room on the clean side then these will probably be awesome but for me they were just too clean sounding.

After a few hours of turntable use with my Bellari VP130 phono pre-amps new Russian made 12AX7EH tube installed (to replace the lower quality Chinese tube) the sound of my Lp`s has dramatically improved. with a cleaner, more detailed and more punchy sound Though I have made several changes simultaneously, (new Audioquest Wildcat tonearm cable, a 15 volt 3 amp power adapter to replace the 12 volt 1 amp adapter that my Bellari came with. And I am just now using a Grado Prestidge Gold cartridge while my usual Shure V15 III cartridge waits for a new stylus) so as you can figure it is really hard to say just how much of a difference the tube alone has made but the overall difference is impressive. But with my past experience of using Electro-Harmonix tubes in a Marshall guitar amp I believe they are a very good and long lasting tube that can also improve the sound of your music in most applications.

Installed 5 of these in my Peavey 6506 112 combo and it transformed the amp. The amp has a much more full tone. The clean channel sounds mean and will break up well when asked to and the distortion channel is what it should have been for a high gain metal amp. I was not totally satisfied with the amp before these tubes and was seriously considering selling it. I had replaced the 1234; with a vintage 30, had changed the power tubes to JJ, and had played with different pedals. Just could not get the tone I was looking for. What it needed all along was to replace all 5 preamp tubes with these. Now the amp sounds exactly the way I want it to. Very happy with my purchase of these tubes.

I replaced the 3 older Groove Tubes 12AX7s in my Fender Blues Deluxe Reissue with 3 of these Electro-Harmonix tubes. It sounds so much better, as would be expected when replacing worn out tubes. As for how these tubes sound in comparison to the Groove Tubes when they were new... based on my vague recollection, I think I like these tubes better. In any case, they sound great. I've got a nice hi end shimmer to my clean tone again, and some added grit on the dirty channel. For the price you can't go wrong.
