Bought a Dayton Audio HTA100BT which by itself has an optical (toslink) input but did not provide much tuneability, past the treble and bass (only for the full range L/R speakers). The subs output is just a pass through with no bulb preamps. With the 2x4 HD I was able to tune the entire home stereo using the RAW software and the UMIK-1 microphone. Crossovers (high pass and low pass). Yes, this unit cost more than the 100x2 stereo but, for the small form factor it's a win for me. Also bright the remote when I toggle from TV to a CD player (Alpine head unit lol). Such a versatile unit!! Love this thing!

I like this product for the BEQ/TR ability that AVS Members have developed. It's probably the only real use for it, unless you have the Dirac firmware for it.It's not balanced, but there is a new Flex model for that.2x4HD official plugin just plain old sucks. Only use it when you have to. Otherwise use minidsp-rs from github. Also use ezBEQ for the ease of usage.I wish miniDSP would come up with a better software .. but this does what i need it to do from a hardware perspective. The miniDSP remote control works with it as well, but why, when you have ezBEQ!? Don't bother with a wifi-dg, just use a RPI instead. much better control with minidsp-rs

This review is specifically for the miniDSP 2X4 HD.This is the best price you can get for a 4-channel DSP that has digital inputs and uses an Analog Devices Sharc 400MHz sound processing chip. Along with the supplied software, there is no other product like it at anything like this price. The unit allows for custom generated IIR filters for room equalization or crossover design. But its the only unit at this price that also offers custom FIR filters, allowing for development of zero phase or minimum phase speaker correction filters. The only downside is it takes some technical knowledge to use it at its full potential, along with some filter design software to generate the necessary filters. But its loads of fun to learn on if you're interested! MiniDSP has very good introductions on their website on various software packages you can use to develop these types of filters, which form an excellent introduction. My only concern is that it won't be available much longer -- the manufacturer has discontinued other great devices that had these features and more, and has recently come out with a new product with similar features to this product, plus a few extra bells and whistles, which is double the price. Logically, they may well discontinue the 2X4 HD at some point, so get one now if you're considering it!

Not using this for EQ of my subs. Only using it for BEQ with movies. If you have home theater and have one of these you need BEQ. It's even better than messing with REW and taking measurements. AVS forums explains all the details but it's super simple to deploy on these mini dsp units. My Subwoofers are on a whole new level now and only took 5 minutes to setup with no umik needed. Highly recommend

It's not really straight forward but there are several walkthroughs on YouTube that are easy to follow. I cleared up some nulls in my room pretty quickly.

Great value to tune multiple subs for a home theater. Definitely made a difference using the MiniDSP with REW and a UMIK1.

This will dramatically improve the sound of your subwoofer(s) in your home theater or stereo systems. Look at all the YouTube videos for how to use. Take the time to learn this and other free software utilities for best subwoofer performance.

I aligned 2 subs, Hsu VTF3 MK5 and a BIC PL200 with Mini DSP, and the results a phenomenal.. I had to follow a video in You tube to get the while thing configured and aligned. But its totally worth it. My subs now sound so well balanced, no more boomy bass. But well balanced and clean bass. Worth the investment.
