Platinum Tools EZ-RJ45 Cat5 / 5e Plug Connectors, 50 Pack 100003C

I am a novice at networking, but these connectors make it simple and relieble. Be sure to get the strain reliefs, thay make the cables/connectors look like they came right our of the factory and are sure to prevent unwanted cable stress. Search hard for the best price on the crimpers as well, they can be found in dozens of places, and in several models. Out of all 50 connectors, I only had 2 that failed and it was operator error, not a product failure.

The Platinum Tools 100003C EZ-RJ45 Connectors are not exactly a specialty item but they are designed for the Platinum Tools EZ-RJ45 crimp tool. I don't see any point complaining about cutting the excess off the end when in fact the tool is designed to perform that function for you. The concept behind it is to avoid trimming the exact length. ITS A TIME SAVER. So quit complaining and buy the tool. The typical RJ-45 crimp tool with no features is 30. If you're working a job that requires building patch cables or other such items then this item will pay for itself in the first hour.

A really great idea. This is for people that don't have time to worry about lining up the wires.

I purchased these connectors thinking it would make my life easier in preparing network connections.Since I already had my own RJ 45 tool, I did not purchase the EZ branded one.However, the EZ connectors come with plastic in front of the pins, and I assume their crimp tool shaves that off as part of the crimping action.With the regular crimp tool, that layer of plastic remained and it acted as an insulator.The plastic pushed the connectors in the jack away instead of allowing them to make contract with the pins, as per the RJ 45 standard.Consequently my terminations did not give me the "Easy" connection they claimed.I wasted a couple of days troubleshooting the problem and ended up cutting out grooves with a utility knife and a dental pick on each jack to allow the connectors in the jack to come into contact with the EZ RJ Connector. I even ended up stabbing my finger in the process.So beware that these apparently are only "easy" if you also get their special crimp tool (another 50+ ).The only thing that they allow for, if you don't have their special tool, is to align the right wire pairs and see them come through the other end to verify. But with the extra time spent cutting out the grooves, it made it a lot more difficult than regular plain vanilla RJ45 connectors.

Excellent product! makes terminating cables extremely easy, with no chance of getting colors in the wrong place, or making a bad connection.
