The idea for Pro.Fit was born in response to cellular customers who desired a professional, custom installation - making their phone easy to reach and easy to operate. Each year these same customers would return with their new car for that same professional, custom installation. Some were driving new Mercedes, some new Ford pickups. The need was real. More and more people wanted a professional, custom installation. Pro.Fit VSMs fill that need. Breaking away from the traditional mounting methods, Pro.Fit found most people were reluctant to have someone drill screws into the dash or console of their car. Pro.Fit responded to these concerns by designing a mount that attaches to existing fittings within the dash, avoiding any visible damage to the car.

Pro.Fit addresses safety issues by making your mobile electronics convenient and accessible. If a phone, satellite radio or GPS is in a car, put it where it's safe. Safe, as in easy to reach, easy to see and easy to operate while driving. Pro.Fit takes the issues and concerns of both the cellular customers and installers into consideration when engineering new mounts.

Pro.Fit International, Inc., a privately held Minnesota corporation based in Eagan, Minnesota and incorporated in July 1991.

Mount worked good. While trying to dry fit the mount in various locations in order to locate the best option for me, I noticed that the mount was leaving scratch marks on my dash where I dry-fitted it. Upon inspection, I noticed the mount had jagged metal edges to it where the corners of the mount were previously ground down (to accommodate my specified vehicle?). One location that I dry-fitted was where the glove box opens and closes, and that is where the jagged edges scratched my dash (only noticeable when glove box is open). I used my own grinder to smooth out these rough edges and finalized where I wanted the mount. You can use a file as well. For a finished product, you should not have to do this at all, as I have to believe that not all mounting locations will be concealed. Otherwise, I would have given 5 stars. You are limited to exactly where you can mount this, due to the contours of the bracket and how your dash is assembled. Examine your joints within your dash carefully. The glove box option may have worked, as the joint surface was easily accessible (no need to remove any dash parts), but the door would have barely impacted the mount upon closing. Your situation may vary. Ended up removing the vents and mounting there. Had to be careful when replacing the vents, as the mount was partially interfering with the reinstall. Overall very satisfied with the end result.

Purchased this mount for my Kenwood V71A transceiver. The unit worked great until the weather turned very cold. The rubber ball on the mount shrinks in the cold and will not support the radio head weight and will not stay in the position you put it in. Luckily for me its not that cold where I live very often. I do not recommend this if you live in a cold climate.

I've had this in my truck for a long time. My gps doesn't wobble. I've had another persons GPS and that worked well too. I some time connect a phone clip that takes a garmin ball (the one I found was ok but didn't support a case. A good looking iphone clip that supports this size ball is hard to find) and it worked well. I plan on getting this for any future car I own. At first I was turned off by the cost, but prefer the clean look to a suction cup type device any day.

If your going to mount one of the larger GPS on this mount, you might consider getting the legacy series pro.fit (if one is available for your car). This device is a little too flimsy. On rough roads it wobbles so much that it makes it hard to read.I was putting quite a few mounts in the car so this was no big deal for me. I just used an Arkon IPM525-S 18.5-Inch Flexible Goose neck Seat Bolt Floor Mount from the floor to mount my TomTom XXL 540TM . I had to change the head to fit the TomTom, but that was no big deal. Much studier mount for GPS use. This mount is easy to install. The directions were clear and easy to understand. I would recommend using their dash tool to remove you dash pieces. A screw driver will scratch things up a bit.I have been using Pro.Fit mounts for over 10 years and this is the first time they haven't gotten a stellar rating.
