I upgraded my laptop hard drive to an SSD drive and bought this to make my existing drive usable in a SATA USB case I had. Everything worked, but it took a couple of tries to figure out which cable combination to use and to make sure it's connected properly. A simple one-page set of instructions would have been appreciated. Some electrical tape helped secure my drive to the top of the adapter.Basically, if the drive light shines bright red and your computer doesn't recognize it, flip the cable around. Please note this is for a PATA/ZIF drive.

Great product! allowed me to convert ZIF into SATA for file extraction. This was the second part to my total problem solution. Worked Great!

I got this to help me do data transfers at work when installing new hard drives in the MacBook Air. Before, we had to transfer data to an external drive using USB, then transfer it back after installing the new drive. Now I can image one disk to another via a SATA sled using firewire and a mac pro if I want to. We used it the day after I got it and it works like a charm. I forgot to check to see if the cables would be included, because the connectors inside the computer will not work for this, luckily they were and there's an extra in case we wear one out. Thanks!

My Zune 120gb crapped out on me I wanted to see if the HDD was still good to go. Plugged it into this and hooked it up to my computer. Detected immediately. Formatted the HDD and everything worked great!

I needed to use ZIF ribbon cable 1.8 inch SSD hard drive in a new SATA laptop. This did the trick. I did have to cut off the mounting area of the board so that it would fit in the new laptop. There is no circuitry in that area of the board, so it did not hurt the function. I cut off quite a bit (over an inch).
