I almost always use CTS brass shaft pots and have never had one fail. This latest batch of 4 all had resistance of 475 to 495K. The shafts on these are very short. They are great for mounting on a pick guard, but you need the long shaft ones for most rear mounting situations.I had a crazy problem on my last repair. Not the CTS pot's fault, but something to watch out for. The terminals on these pots pass through a little board and are exposed on the top of the board. It is possible for them to get grounded out if you install the pot over shielding paint or foil. Not likely on a flat surface, but it happened to me in a control cavity where the owner had hogged out wood and left an irregular surface. Much head scratching ensued before I realized why tightening the nut caused the tone pot to stop working.

Bought these by mistake, didn't notice they are only for pickguard guitars like Strat and Tele, except Strat and Teles don't use 500K. They are good quality CTS pots, most of them read exactly 500K which is a rare thing.
