Having just bought a Roland Micro Cube, it didn't take me long to get tired of the rinky dink sound out of the cheap Chinese made speakers which come stock. Don't get me wrong, I bought the amp for the portablilty, not necessarily the sound. But as time went on, I hardly picked it up anymore because the sound made me cringe after awhile. Now here I sat with a portable amp that I didn't want to tote anywhere. I thought about what to do. Another guitar? No, didn't make any difference, just sounded bad in another tone. Add pedals? No, that didn't work either. Pedals just came out sounding as mickeymouse as hell. How could I improve this item? I checked out the guts (which I know next to nothing about) but it was clear to me that it was made very solid and probably was the place where they spent the most money (FX and modeling). I then looked at the speaker...no markings, glue (dope) spewed everywhere, thin cone feel. I wonder? Went to Youtube and realized I could put a new speaker in. Ordered this baby and Vola! What a difference! Sounds great now. I never put a speaker in anything before and it worked out great. Changed everything.

I got this speaker as a replacement for a worn-out/semi-blown speaker in a 1970s vintage Pignose. The biggest plus is that it's a quality replacement speaker that fits a Pignose, either as a replacement or as an upgrade. The next plus is that it IS an upgrade. It's substantially more detailed, fuller, and a bit louder than the original. I think it probably needs some break-in period, so I'm really interested how it will sound in a year or so. On the minus side, it BARELY fits the Pignose (the magnet is larger), and was a real pain to get lined up and tightened in. Totally worth it, though. It turned an iffy, scratchy sounding amp into a real player again.

Jangly to blues, that sound of a Fender amp right here!
This little speaker is tremendous. I mounted mine in a small, 7x7x5" box, and I drive it with a little Joyo 20W Bantam Bluejay tube hybrid amplifier. It's the perfect match!
