Love this board, very sturdy, super easy to hang, looks great and is very substantial. We wanted a board to have in our kitchen for weekly changing, but didn't want to spend for a slate board, found lots that seemed impractically heavy or too tiny. While I wish these came in larger sizes and were still affordable we LOVE this board. I'm super picky about quality and it's great!

I wanted to find a board that was smooth to write on and easy to erase. After research and returning a few, I finally found what I was looking for in the Quartet. I recommend Prang chalk or chalk supplied at a teachers' store.

Good quality, smooth writing--I did follow the instructions to prime the board and it erases great. Some people have mentioned that eraser does not sit on chalk ledge, which is true if you want to put it flat (preferable yes) but an eraser will sit on the ledge on its side just fine. Mine did not come with the mounting hardware but we made it work with misc hardware we found at home. Arrived in fine shape, no damage. You might want to check around on price.....just saying.

I got this because I work on mathy things and sometimes it seemed like a cool idea to have this in my room.I was not disappointed.It works as intended, but my only complaint is that when setting up it can mark your walls black if you're not careful. In my case, it didn't matter. I would recommend putting this on your wall with a friend.

I only recently started writing reviews here because I greatly appreciate the time folks take to rate and review their purchases. It really helps others to get a fair look at the product before spending their hard earned money.That said, I recommend this chalkboard if one is looking for a durable and long-lasting magnetic board that is easy to wipe and write on. Because of its width (and weight), however, I had to first screw two 1 X 4' wood straps to the studs across my wall (as the studs are each 16 apart). That let me place the mounting screws into the straps where the board would be centered on my wall. There is no mounting bracket on the bottom so to keep the board from slightly moving back and fourth when I write on it I screwed a small bracket (found in the hinge section of any hardware store) into the bottom of the aluminum frame and the underside of the bottom wood strap. Now the board is about an inch off the wall and it stays in place.The corners of the tray are plastic and the tray itself is not wide enough to hold an eraser but I suppose that could be modified if needed. For the low price I think this is a fine porcelain board that will last a long time.
