I ordered this instead of using temp gauges in all my enclosures. I love the price. A+++++ You should buy this

I found this temp gun to be quite useful when setting up and monitoring both my snake terrarium as well as my aquariums (because, let's face it, the stick-on thermometers for aquariums are a joke). I could take a panoramic temperature reading of the entire enclosure, for both the air and bedding temperature to keep my reptile safe and comfortable. I highly recommend this for any reptile owner.

I bought this to double check my Hydrofarm thermostats. This says the same temp they do, so I guess everything is good!

I have used it in comparison to a zoo med digital thermometer and my $200 temperature gun I use for electrical work at my job and it is always within .5 degrees of them so overall I think it is excellent for the purpose.

I got this for $6 from PetCo, it was marked down from $30. At this price it's a steal. This thing is perfect. It has everything you could need with a temp. reader. I've tested it against the two different thermometers in my tank and it showed how off one of the Petco basic thermometer was.It even has a clock. You can even choose to display temp. in Fahrenheit or Celsius. It's so simple to use, the directions are easy to understand. If you read a temp above or below the max/min temp range it will give a message HI or LOLet's you know when it's to hot or cold for the infrared thermometer to work.Has a Lock mode where you can continuously scan temperatures without having to hold down the button.Shows battery charge in full and half charge.I recommend this to anyone who needs fast easy temp readings.Taken from the instructions."Important Notes:The area being measured by your reptitemp increases as you move the thermometer away from the object. for example, if your thermometer is one inch away from the floor of your terrarium, it will measure an area one inch in diameter. if you move the thermometer 3 inches away, it will measure an area 3 inches in diameter. The thermometer will not measure temperatures through screen mesh, glass, or plastic, but will instead measure the surface temperatures.Measuring polished or reflective surfaces may result in accurate readings."

This thermometer makes it easy to check to see if I need to turn on the under tank heaters. In this colder weather it is easy for my house to have cooler areas. I am able to check in a second to see if extra heat is needed for a certain terrarium.

This thing is awesome! Point and click, temps at a glance. I tested it between 60 and 110 F against two of my most trusted digital probe thermometers, a ZooMed and an AcuRite; rarely did they differ more than two or three degrees (in fact, they usually didn't vary more than one). Best part is, no wires here--they hid the probe in an invisible beam. Just swirl it around your enclosure pointing at whatever and 'whatever' gets scanned in seconds. (It's harmless to skin, just don't point it at the eyes.) Move the thermometer closer to the target to get a surface temp, or pull back to measure the ambient air around it. Hold the button down for continuous readings--you get a 3-D view of every temperature in your tank.Instructions are well-written and easy to follow; this thing will do some pretty neat tricks when you get to know it. Personal favorite: auto-shutoff if you don't push any buttons for 15 seconds. Sturdy construction, light as a feather, battery's easy to change when the time comes...I can't find much I don't like about it, really. I'm stuck on these things, I wouldn't want to keep a reptile home without one now.
