I have all kinds of doodads for going up a tree but wanted something safe for coming down. I wanted something easy to attach to a rope, attach and let go with both hands so the ground doesn't break my fall, able to attach then take up the slack so I could remove my hand ascender and have a dead man switch in case as I was rappelling down and passed out or attacked by an owl so it would stop me unaided . This is it, kind of pricey but worth it. WARNING::::::: Be sure to match your rope size to the Petzl that you order. I only use 10.5mm so this it perfect for me

LOVE THIS DEVICE. I have this an emergency repelling device for my partner in the event of an emergency. I have another device for myself. It's so intuitive and feels so positive that it's perfect for anyone who is unsure of using a regular descending method. Highly recommended. ALSO check out youtube where it's shown how the ID can be used as part of a mechanical advantage / rescue setup for hoisting up someone, taking advantage of the cam mechanism on this device to ensure no slip.
