These are best pads offering the most padding and longest life. I use them for squats at my local gym & decided to buy my own after my gym switched to some cheaper, thinner pads that wear out in weeks due to breakdown of the thin pads. These breakdown eventually too but last 10-20 times longer.

So glad I got this pad. I somewhat questioned it for a little bit because the price seemed a tiny bit steep for a bar pad I only use for two exercises (heavy weighted hip thrusts and bridges). But, considering hip thrusts are a definitely FAVORITE and go to I do regularly, I am SO glad I got this cushion-y little helper! It has SAVED my lovely, protruding hips from the bruising I seemed to permanently have before and allowed me to go much heavier on my lifts. Plus, it's great quality and my clients also appreciate the additional comfort factor as opposed to the dinky squat bar pad (or rolled up yoga mat) we had to use before. Definitely worth the cost if you practice hip thrusts or weighted bridges and want to test your limits without discomfort being a factor.

I wasn't wild about the $35 dollar price but after using it a while I am very pleased with the quality. It's too big for shoulder squats but works great for seated calf raises and hip thrusts.

The Hampton Extra-Thick par pad works great! I use it for hip thrusts, a regular bar pad just doesn't do the trick for this exercise; it does not provide sufficient cushioning for hip thrusts. But with the Hampton Extra-Thick, and a folded-over towel under it, you are good to go! Definitely worth spending the money to get the Extra-Thick bar pad.

On Bret Contreras' advice from his book (Strong Curves), I bought this thing and love it. I know he also advises an Airex pad, but this works way better for me since it's less unwieldy than an Airex. It is REALLY thick, much thicker than any bar pad you'll find at the gym. Velcro closure is generous and easy to take on/off. Bar pad stays put. It's huge. You probably will NOT want to use it for squats given its size, but it works wonderfully for glute bridges and hip thrusts. Note the measurements of this thing if you want to go to the gym with it. You will need a fairly large bag (not ridiculously huge, but definitely not something you can put in a small knapsack).

When they say extra thick, they mean it. It's great for things like glute bridges, perhaps maybe even calf raises in a smith machine. For squats, I would say they're actually dangerous. Its so thick that it throws off the balance and position of the bar for a high bar squat. It might be okay for a low bar squat, I never tried. The product itself seems very high quality. But for the purposes of squats, it's better to learn good form and just use nothing.I thought I needed a bar pad because I had horrible squat form (trying to constantly improve now.) If you're looking at this product, you might be in the same situation as I was.Look at all the great, elite level squatters out there in the competitive world. They never use bar pads. It's SAFER to just learn good form.Check out Strength Camp on youtube for a primer on squat form.
