No signs of rust after 4 mo, despite having a block of salt sitting in it. No broken welds.

Been using for two months. I'll revisit this review after the winter. So far, no rust or bending. I have tried the chrome and plastic covered salt block holders, but within 6 months they begin to wear and rust. Then they bend easily. I use for goats and sheep. So far, very pleased.

We've gone through our share of painted or vinyl coated metal salt block holders over the years, corrosion eventually killing them all. So we decided to spend a bit more on this one. An added unexpected benefit is that this model is generous in size, so the salt/mineral blocks slip in easily and unlike some of the painted metal models, the screws used to hold the block in place do not get in the way of inserting the blocks.

UPDATE: Well, stainless was a nice idea for long lasting. But here we are a couple months later with one side of the holder laying on the stall floor. I guess from now on we will stick with whatever our local tractorsupply has on the shelf.
UPDATE #2: We had originally bought 2 of these, and a year later, this last week the second one died as well, the bottom broken off and lying on the stall floor along with the mineral block. A word to the wise: Skip these and go to tractorsupply, they have stainless now and a much sturdier version.
