This is actually better than electric throwing machines in the sense that you can use it wherever needed, without extension cords or generator. It takes a little practice to get a feel for using it. After 20 minutes of testing with it, I had ZERO trouble consistently placing the ball in the strike zone, pitch after pitch. You do have to pay attention to the small details, such as how you set the ball and seams on the throwing arm, and how centered the throwing arm is relative to the release lever (that one is critical).Even though it could have been built a bit more sturdy I have no problem giving this 5 stars. Great bang for the buck. Now, I'm able to consistently throw strikes to my 9-10 machine pitch players. This is a great buy - don't hesitate to get it.

I like it just fine for the price. It doesn't throw the ball in the same place consistently, even if you take the time to put the ball on the arm the same way every time, but it's reasonably close. It does have a good range of settings for speed and high / low pitches.

Why anyone would mess with those other, electric-cord pitching machines...I just don't know. This is a great hitting aid, and my 10 yr-old son's organized baseball coach was pleased as punch when I offered to bring this to practice so the boys could work on hitting. No generator or cords needed---just carry it under one arm, set it up, and you're good to go. It is adjustable, so you can throw everything from grounders to fly balls...and you can adjust the speed to probably up to 45mph. When I set it up at home plate and aimed toward outfield, and set it to throw at its highest arc, I'd say it goes well past 2nd base and into mid-center field....like a high-arc hit from a real slugger. Good practice for my son in catching fly balls. My only quibble is that you can't do quick-changes to keep fielders guessing; to adjust high/low, you have to unscrew a knob and reset a pin (which only takes 20 seconds, at that). Adjusting left to right is faster though, as the machine pivots on a front anchor point, and that takes only a second or two.I have the distinct feeling that my son's Little League coach will be buying one of these for his team practices next year!

As described. I bought this for my kids, so we can do batting practice at the park. Once dialed in, this works a lot better than me trying to throw them over the plate. This also can be set up to do pop ups, and grounders if you really wanted to. My main intent was just for batting.

Best investment EVER! Since I'm not good at throwing to my son, it allowed me to give him the practice he needed to improve! (and he is only 5)!
