How it works: students apply grade-level language skills to correct a paragraph on Monday through Thursday; when read together, the four paragraphs form a cohesive composition. This is a good resource for teaching and practicing standard English conventions. However, just know that there is no organization or progression to it. Right off the bat, students are blasted with myriad kinds of errors to correct (punctuation, sentence construction, spelling, etc.), and it stays that way. I tried using this with my summer school students for six weeks. For the first three weeks, I used the book as it is. There was virtually no growth between pre and post tests. For the second three weeks (and with a different but similar group), I revised the 34;weeks34; to be progressive in the kinds of errors the students had to correct, There was much more growth from pre to post tests because students could focus on recognizing and correcting a limited number of error types. If you're willing to do this kind of revision before you use it with students, then this resource can be valuable. Not highly recommended.
