The story is ok (the writing needs to be updated: fireman to firefighter, etc. We just substitute it as we're reading but if Richard Scarry can go back and modernize his books back in 1994 then so can the estate of Norman Bridwell), but the illustrations are just lazy. My 2 1/2 year old kept pointing out the inconsistencies (where did the other houses go?, etc.) We still read it from time to time (he loves Clifford) but I wish more effort would have been put in to that.

Clifford's Good Deeds by Norman Bridwell is a fun book in the Clifford the Big Red Dog series intended for early elementary audiences. What I disliked: I like this series, so the only criticism that I could come up with is that I felt bad for the dog in the story. He tried so hard and just kept messing up, maybe a bit too much like myself lol. What I liked: I love this series. I love the loyalty Emily Elizabeth has to her dog. I love Clifford's generous heart. I love that he tries so hard to help. Norman Bridwell both writes and illustrates this story, so the story matches the pictures perfectly. This book is an oldie but a goodie.
